Louis Vuitton Series 3 was held here in Marina Bay Sands Crystal Pavilion, Singapore, for its first time of the three series from 28 Nov to 23 Dec 2015 and we had the privilege of attending it. If you’ve missed the exhibition, don’t worry, let me bring you on a tour of Louis Vuitton Series 3 as we learn what goes on behind the collection.
“Series 3 is a stand-alone exhibition showcasing a designer and his creative process and influences. Far more than a simple collection, it is a stream of consciousness, dreams and self-reflexive journeys. Inside a designer’s mind, muses intertwine with cherished memories and visions of new shapes, cuts and meticulous craftsmanship.
He sits between the past he embraced and the future. The designer’s careful thoughts pair with a delicate artisanal touch: a new moment of excellence born in this union.
Series 3 retraces Nicolas Ghesquiere’s Autumn-Winter 2015/2016 collection for Louis Vuitton. Series 3 is a sensorial journey, venturing deep into the designer’s souland an artisan’s heart. An adventure along the emotional corridors of Louis Vuitton” – Louis Vuitton.
Master Mind – In the centre of the room a Louis Vuitton trunk containing Nicolas Ghesquiere’s creative process and inspiration. Over a century after its inception, the trunk still holds some of Louis Vuitton’s most treasured secrets and guards many of Nicolas Ghesquiere’s new ones. It only has to be opened, and all shall be revealed…
Artist’s Hands – Each craftsman’s movement is that of an artist. Enter into the heart of Louis Vuitton’s savoir-faire and discover where experienced hands bring to life the Louis Vuitton icons. A thousand movements come together to create each special piece. Follow them in real-time as artisans create La Petite Malle and the Dora, two of Louis Vuitton’s New Classics.
Infinite Show – Relive the excitement that surrounds a show at the Louis Vuitton Foundation, where the Autumn-Winter 2015/2016 fashion show actually took place. 48 looks, backstage – 30 make-up artists under Pat McGarth’s guidance, 25 hairdressers under Paul Hanlon, 45 model dressers… one designer, Nicholas Ghesquiere.
Accessories Gallery – “I’ve always loved designing accessories. For me, accessories never stand alone, there has to be a common thread between them. They’re an integral part of each outfit, either clashing or complementing it. They share the same sentiment and movement as the garment. A silhouette is a complete make-up of all these elements” – Nicolas Ghesquiere.
Walk In Wardrobe – Here clothes tucked away in their glass cases come alive when they are taken. Garments speak to the woman who wishes to own it. It tells her a story, one she’ll enjoy listening to, tales of who she would like to become. The wardrobe; a gateway to a thousand possibilities.
A Tale of Craftsmanship – Be the hand behind each creation. Experience these movements. See the Louis Vuitton artisans and experience life in the atelier where only hands can yield such beauty. Here, time stands still.
The friendly artisans let me have a feel of making a Petite Malle! The little bobs and screws were tiny and everything was handmade and precise, such tedious work put into a bag. Makes us appreciate our LV Bags even more with the opportunity to see them at work. Watch the video below making a Petite Malle.
At the end of the tour, we were treated to a wall of Louis Vuitton Autumn-Winter 2015/2016 Collection stickers and posters!
I obviously went a little sticker crazy as I took Shine’s share of stickers too, lol (mad LV bag lady). I really enjoyed my time throughout the exhibition and the staff were incredibly informative and friendly! I’ve added some information on some of the bags on my Facebook Page so do like or follow me there to get exclusive updates. I hope you enjoyed the tour as much as we did and don’t forget ot subscribe, follow, likes and share.
