My last dupe purchase was a dupe of a Bottega Veneta Mini Jodie. I’ve been using that cutie for over a year and have been taking it out with me so much that I’ve been getting more wear from it compared to my other actual designer bags. I loved it so much that I decided to get another one, this time bigger, to carry my whole life in with this dupe of a Bottega Veneta Jodie (Medium) in Coffee.
Let me first clarify that this is only my second purchase of a dupe bag. I have experience in purchasing dupe shoes, clothes, and jewellery in the past, but I am extremely picky when it comes to my bags. Also, note that I don’t consider dupes as fake/replica, but a similar cut and design of the original with a more affordable price tag. This means that you can also find dupes in your favourite high street fashion stores like H&M, Charles & Keith, and Zara. You probably have a dupe you own in your wardrobe.
Now that we have that cleared, let me give you a review of my latest dupe purchase.

Why a Dupe of Bottega Veneta Jodie Bag?

I have been a Bottega Veneta fan for more than a decade since my 20s but the prices for these bags were way out of my budget, especially then, as I was living off an attraction host’s salary. I have always had a liking for it’s signature weave design and the slight slouch in the bag (I hate stiff boxy bags). So, when I saw a similar bag to the Bottega Veneta at Bugis Village, I bought it. I remembered friends asking me why I like this auntie bag, but I didn’t care. It made me feel chic, elegant, and special. They did not know it was a designer dupe, so I wore it with pride like I knew something they didn’t. That bag lasted me a long time until I had to leave everything in my life in a hurry, including that bag. In hindsight, if my life didn’t fall apart, then who knows how long that bag would’ve lasted?
Since then, the Bottega Veneta Jodie has been the rage and I snigger every time I remember how it use to be dubbed an auntie bag way back when. I was also surprised that the high-end fashion girlies were now openly buying dupes and sharing them online! Society has changed, people are more money and fashion savvy, and I’m here for it.
Details

My favourite bit of the Jodie besides the weave is this side knot on the handle. I’m extremely pleased with the hardware on this particular dupe as the zippers are gold that are not painted over (so they don’t scratch off) and smooth!
Compartments

I learned that there are 3 internal side pockets – 1 with a zipper, 2 slots without. So convenient as I tend to lose my stuff in my big bags. I slot my lipstick and shades while other small miscellaneous necessities go in the zipper.
What’s in the Bag

I can actually slot a lot more than this! But I want this to last as long as possible so I don’t want to put too much weight on it. I care for all my stuff, even if they don’t cost thousands of dollars.

“Are you sure you really carry these things?”, yes Jan, I do. I love pretty things, even utilitarian ones. My handphone is not in here because I used it to take this pic, I’m in the midst of getting new earpiece, I’m from a generation who are not emotionally attached to their water bottles and of course, I left out all my tissue packets, medication and crumpled sweet wrappers but if you like seeing garbage then let me know.

Price of Dupe:
SGD $33.18
Bottega Veneta Medium Jodie SGD $4,500
Saving SGD $4,466.82
I am over the moon! It’s really one of my favourite buys in months in terms of price and quality. Although you cannot expect it to be an exact copy as it is only a dupe, it’s so chic and versatile with my outfits, and I can throw it around without fainting every time it bumps onto something or gets scratched. My only peeve is that it’s not made of leather of course but it’s a good purchase for the girlies who don’t have $4000 dollars to fork out for a bag or if you want to try the style out before you’re confident enough to invest in the real deal. I’m actually very pleased with my dupes as it causes me less paranoia and I will consider getting the actual Jodie when my finances allows me.
But for now, if anyone asks, “Is it a Jodie?!”, I’ll proudly drop them the link. You can thank me later, xoxo.
