I was kindly invited to tour L’OCCITANE Big Little Things Boutique at Raffles City, its first ever eco-concept store in Singapore and learn more about their recycling program.

Big Little Things
Big Little Things means by doing little things in our daily lives such as recycling, we can make a big impact together. L’OCCITANE has always been committed to recycling and keeping nature free from pollution. When it was created in 1976, L’OCCITANE launched a bottle-return system for glass bottles, so they could be brought back to a retailer. L’OCCITANE wants to focus on a circular economy, where most materials used can go on to have a second life and make recycling accessible to everyone.
Refill Fountain

The Refill Fountain is L’OCCITANE’s zero-plastic alternative that gives you the choice to enjoy your favourite L’OCCITANE shower products without the need for new plastic bottles! I’m so stoked for this as I already practice refilling my body wash and bonus that I can purchase one of these aluminium forever bottles and just pay to refill! Save money and the earth!
The Refill Fountain currently has a selection of 5 shower products, with more coming soon.
L’OCCITANE Refill Fountain are available at ION Orchard and Raffles City Boutiques.
Eco-Refill Packs

You can also choose to purchase Eco-Refills and save up to 33% versus the original price as you will save up to 97% packaging versus purchasing products in it’s original containers.
Big Little Things Program

Bring in your clean and dried full-sized beauty products from L’OCCITANE or ANY beauty brands to be recycled and rewarded at participating L’OCCITANE boutiques.

How to recycle Beauty Empties?

Big Little Things Reward System
For every full-sized beauty empty, you will receive 1 Stamp. After every 10 Stamps, you will receive a travel-sized L’OCCITANE product! Skip a paper bag when you shop in L’OCCITANE boutiques (excluding L’OCCITANE Takashimaya, web store, En Demande and duty-free stores) and be awarded 1 Stamp for every transaction made without paper bags!
There are 10 different gifts to collect, and no limit on the number of gifts you can collect. Gifts are available while stocks last. My L’OCCITANE members may choose to redeem 1 loyalty point after every 10 stamps instead. The point will be credited to your membership account and can be converted to Cash Dollars for use in-stores or online to redeem any regular price product.

Take Note: Travel-sized beauty empties can be recycled but will not count towards redemption of treats. Beauty Advisors may choose not to accept any empties within their discretion, if the empty is deemed not possible to recycle or if the empty has not been properly cleaned and dried.
L’OCCITANE Big Little Things Boutiques:
ION Orchard, Vivocity, Paragon, Plaza Singapore, Northpoint City and Raffles City Boutiques.
Recycling Workshop

After our tour around the Big Little Things Boutique, we headed over to the atrium for our Upcycling Workshop where we learned how to repurpose products and give it a new lease of life. Here, we’re creating a vanity container using a L’OCCITANE empties and cut up cotton t-shirts.

What do I think about L’OCCITANE Big Little Things Recycling Program?

It’s an awesome initiative that not only provides products that are eco-conscious such as reducing the use of plastic and paper bags and even rewarding customers for recycling not just L’OCCITANE products, even products from other brands! I’m all for it! In fact, I already have some products put aside clean and dried to send to my nearest L’OCCITANE Big Little Things Boutique.
Let’s do our part to recycle and reuse our beauty products for a more sustainable world.
