This year, I was invited to attend the Pure Silver Ring Making Workshop by Tanja Sadow, Dean and founder of Jewelry Design & Management International School (JDMIS) at the Singapore International Jewellery Expo (SIJE) 2022 held at Marina Bay Sands.
Silver Workshop
Do you have trouble finding the jewellery piece that perfectly expresses your personality and style? Do you want to find a productive channel to express your creativity and aesthetic sense? Why not try making jewellery by yourself?
Insider Tip: Silversmithing is not difficult, at all. It is beginner-friendly and can be done at the comfort of your own home using the new Metal Clay technology. Plus, you can even turn your hobby into a side business for additional income! Why silver? It is one of the jewellery metals that can endure the test of time. Silver is regarded as a noble metal that is hypoallergenic, resists corrosion, looks stunning and is less expensive than gold! More importantly, if you work with 99.9% pure silver, it tarnishes more slowly and can be fired, soldered and polished more easily that sterling or other lower-quality alloys! Take that fine silver and make it an ultra-file powder – and you get ‘metal clay’ – an incredible pure silver material that is easy for beginners to mould and use to explore their creative potential.

Personalised jewellery makes a perfect gift or keepsake. It is one-of-a-kind and accurately reflects the person’s personality and style. While customising jewellery is not difficult these days, handcrafting one makes it especially meaningful.
Try it for yourself and find out how master craftsmen work with ‘Metal Clay’ – composed of pure silver particles, water and binders, and transform it into a pure silver ring through shaping, carving, and “firing”. Bring home and flaunt to family and friends, a unique and noteworthy 999 Pure Silver Ring!

And who knew you don’t have to be sweating it out in a kiln to make a silver ring all within 1 and a half hours! Check out the process on this Instagram post.
