I’ve always been a full-face-makeup girlie, from my days as a Beauty Advisor and it became a habit for years. Sheer makeup didn’t quite cut it for me for the longest time as it didn’t pop on my pigmented skin. But over the last few years since the Clean Beauty trend started to make waves all over social media, sheer lipsticks and natural no-makeup makeup, has been the rage. However, your girl here is quite stubborn when it comes to adapting to trends, especially when it comes to makeup.

So, since I was invited to Clinique’s Get Loud event, I finally came face to face (no pun intended) with the Clinique Black Honey range that has been making its rounds on Tiktok, that I would’ve otherwise not pay attention to. And the results really surprised me.

This was the It girl of the collection. It’s so high in demand that it’s the only shade in Clinique’s Almost Lipstick range that has its formula unchanged because her most loyal fans love the smooth texture. True to it’s name, it’s not quite a lipstick and not quite like a balm, and glides effortlessly on leaving your lips moist. And this shade, Black Honey, blends to the natural pigment of your lips, making it unique to you.

Clinique Lip & Cheek Oil

Of all the products from this collection, the Clinique Lip Cheek Oil was the first one I tried and realise how much I love, love, LOVE, this Black Honey shade especially as a blush! It gave a really unique yet subtle, yet sweet rose/brown/purple undertone to my blush that I’ve never seen on myself in my life! I was so sold, this is easily going to be a staple in my makeup application now.

Clinique High Impact Mascara

I’ve never applied brown mascara on myself until this Clinique High Impact Mascara and I was surprised how it wasn’t as bland as I thought it would be. I would not say it makes my eyes pop the way black mascaras do but it makes a big difference in how my eyes and makeup looks when I want the more casual no makeup look without looking like I just woke up. Its great for my outings to the garden, beach or outdoor events where black mascara may be a bit too heavy.

Am I enjoying Clinique Black Honey Collection?

I must say that this Black Honey shade by Clinique really caught me by surprise! I’ve heard about it on Tiktok and didn’t think much of it because I thought the colour and sheer finish were not for me until I actually tried it. Now, I wear this combination of products so often, my other blushes, mascaras, and lipsticks feel neglected.

Now I get what this Clean Girl, no-makeup makeup hype is all about, and you can count me in. Lesson learned too – don’t knock it till you try it.
