I always get a strange feeling whenever I’m back here in Sentosa. It feels so familiar yet it looks so different. May be it’s a reminder that the place has evolved and so have I? Or that juxtaposition of my old memories here and what it is today. I guess this is how things feel as you age and watch things grow over what you once knew?

I’ve worked on the island since I was 18 and my first allocation was Images of Singapore. Then, I was shifted to Merlion where we had to enter from the back where the Merlion Walk was. When I shifted to a different department, our office was by the Imbiah Carpark. So walking around the area felt bittersweet.

Excuse me as I went off on a tangent walking down memory lane. This was the last memory of the old Merlion. I was here even before that Sentosa sign was up and way before the Sentosa Express (yea, I’m a dinosaur). May be one day I’ll write about my memories of old Sentosa. I can hear the Jans at the back screaming to get back to topic so let me know if you want a throwback.

A Century Old Chateau

1-Flowerhill is a 1500sqm hilltop chateau on Imbiah Hill that is inspired by Claude Monet’s painting, Île aux Fleurs, due to the lush landscape overlooking one of the island’s latest attraction, Sensory Scape. This century-old heritage building houses 3 concepts – Wildseed Cafe, Wildseed Bar & Grill and Camille.

It’s stunning in photos and stunning in person. May be it’s the natural light that shines in or the architecture but there’s a special charm in these old colonial buildings that are rare, and very few have been turned into F&B establishments in Singapore, so it really is a one-of-a-kind dining experience.

The weather was great that day so we decided to have brunch outdoors and got to try the Wildseed Cafe Menu.

Mains

Lok Lok with Asam Pedas Broth
Tiger Prawns, Aburaage Tofu, Smoked Duck Breast, Quail Eggs, Shiitake Konnyaku, Scallops, Okra, Asam Pedas Broth, Lime Leaves.

Atas Kaya Toast
Sourdough, Butter, Kaya, Gula Melaka, Fresh Coconut, Sous Vide Egg.

Lamb Shank Buah Keluak
Fragrant Rice, Achar, Papadam.

Big Pan Breakfast
Eggs, Chicken Bratwurst, Bacon, Cameron Highland Cherry Tomatoes, Portobello Mushroom, Australian Avocado, Toasted Sourdough, Choice of Eggs – Sunny Side Up, Sous Vide, Scrambled.

Desserts

Classic Chendol
Shaved Ice, Azuki Beans, House-Made Chendol, Gula Melaka Syrup, Coconut Cream, White Corn.

You get an amazing 360 degree view from this spot overlooking Imbiah, the Sentosa Express and even the sea on the right, I can see how this is a hotspot for weddings! The brunch menu complimented the ambience well with a fusion of local and western palate. A beautiful retreat from mainland Singapore with a touch of European elegance, I will definitely love to come back again to experience 1-Flowerhill in it’s romantic evening setting.

An overall amazing experience that is ideal to impress your date, celebrate special occasions with your partner, host your wedding and a place where you can come back to multiple times to experience the 3 concepts.
