Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream

After the release of Prince Harry’s book, Spare, it thrusted Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream back into the spotlight and sparked the curiosity of a younger generation as seen on TikTok. If you grew up around beauty enthusiastic aunts or a fabulous grandma, chance are you would have come in contact with this little old lady, and I mean it in the most respectful and endearing way!

One sold every 30 seconds.

Growing up in the 90s in Singapore, Elizabeth Arden products were coveted by our mothers and aunts and you could only get her from higher end department stores which were popular during those time. However, my first feel of this product came later in my life while I was working in the beauty industry as a Beauty Advisor in one of those department stores. The Elizabeth Arden counter happened to be next to the brand I was working for and we regularly share and try on some of our best-sellers and one of them was the cult favourite Eight Hour Cream.

Favourites:

Why Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream?

1. It’s from a heritage brand.

Elizabeth Arden is an iconic American cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance company that was founded by Elizabeth Arden, a Canadian-American businesswoman, in 1910, that’s over a century old.

2. One of the best selling Beauty Products ever.

It is reported that one tube of this cult product is sold every 30 seconds worldwide, and one every two minutes in the United Kingdom alone. It has also garnered many accolades receiving over 115 beauty awards worldwide, including Vogue and Elle.

3. The formula remains unchanged.

Don’t you just hate it when a company changes the formula of a product you’ve been using for years only to realise that it doesn’t feel the same and lose it’s effect? With the changing times and new technology, unfortunately, this happens a lot. That’s why the Eight Hour Cream has a loyal fan-base because the formula remains the same since Ms Arden created it in 1930! Its formula includes ingredients such as petrolatum, vitamin E, and beta-hydroxy acid, which work together to moisturize, nourish, and soothe the skin.

4. It’s multitasking.

Besides Prince Harry’s unique use, there are many ways you can use the Eight Hour Cream. I frequently use it as a hand and cuticle cream, lip balm, slather it on the base of my feet, elbows and knees overnight, as an eyelid primer before I apply eyeshadow, a eyebrow tamer when I’m going out with no makeup and recently, I’ve been apply them to my cheekbones for a natural dewy glass-skin look.

PS: If you haven’t read Prince Harry’s book, Spare, watch the Instagram reel to find out how he uses the Eight Hour Cream.

5. Heals in Eight Hours.

The cream was originally formulated to soothe and protect the skin, and its name stems from its supposed ability to heal the skin in eight hours coming from Ms Arden’s loyal clients, who claimed that it healed her son’s grazed knee in just eight hours.

6. It’s a backstage favourite.

While I was working as a Beauty Advisor and Makeup Artist, I use to be obsessed by what products some of the world’s renowned Makeup Artists used backstage. I learned that Eight Hour Cream was used on model’s eyes, cheekbones, lips and body as a highlighter and it works as an overnight healer for any chapping, cuts or flaking.

Apparently, it was also heavily used on the set of HBO’s Euphoria especially to give Zendaya her no-makeup makeup and on Netflix’s Wednesday on Jenna Ortega!

7. It has famous fans.

The Eight Hour Cream fan base include royalty like the late Queen Elizabeth, the late Princess Diana, to celebrities like Victoria Beckham, Delevingne, Kate Moss, Lady Gaga and Reese Witherspoon.

8. Value for money.

Considering that it can be used for multiple purposes with only a smidge, it is very value for money! And if you get it during sale, it’s practically a steal! I stock up on my Eight Hour Cream from Elizabeth Arden’s Official Shopee Store during Shopee’s monthly sale.

Loved by celebrities like Princess Diana, Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss and more.

Am I enjoying Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream?

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream

The Eight Hour Cream is a personal favourite since it sparks memories of my time working in the beauty industry, the multi-tasking facets, how it is a secret weapon in most many international makeup artists and especially it’s ties to the late Queen Elizabeth and Princess Diana (I’m an Anglophile and history geek). It’s the only product that has been able to heal my cracked knuckles overnight and I personally love the scent. If you’re not a fan of scented products, you may want to try it before making a purchase.

It is one of my top trusted products ever and I will cry if they ever stop selling this.
