These cross earrings inspired me to come up with this ensemble. Although cross necklaces have been around since the Roman Empire was Christianized, it has become more popular this year especially by Met Gala 2018, brands like Dolce & Gabbana and celebrities like Rihanna donning them.

Anyone who’s grown up dancing to Madonna, Prince and George Michael knows that wearing the cross as a fashion statement is not a new phenomenon. But wearing a religious symbol for aesthetics purposes is always going to send some tongues wagging. I don’t think there is a definitive answer of what’s right or wrong. I’m not religious but I appreciate beauty. In the world we live in now, we need to love one another and cross borders. And if wearing pretty things is a path to that then I’m in.
