I’ve introduced La Roche-Posay as one of my favourite French Beauty Products way back 2015 and have loved the Effaclar range. Since almost 10 years have passed, my skin care needs have evolved and global warming has made the sun much harsher than ever, I’m really excited that this trusted French brand that was a staple in my vanity cabinet during my younger days, has launched a revolutionary range that meets my current needs.
I was invited to La Roche-Posay‘s launch of their latest product range – La Roche Posay Mela B3. It was a while back but as I’ve had a jam packed schedule, I figured that I’ll use this opportunity to see how well it will work on my skin given that I’ve been using the whole range.

Why La Roche-Posay Mela B3?

La Roche Posay‘s latest range, the Mela B3 was born from 18 years of research made to correct stubborn dark-spots, facial discolouration and uneven skin tone while respecting the natural tone of all skin that is dermatologist tested on sensitive skin, non-comedogenic and paraben-free.
Main Concerns
- Visible discoloration from dark spots, age spots, sun spots, post-acne marks and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
- Uneven skin tone.
- Dullness and lack of radiance.
Main Ingredients
- Melasyl™
- 10% Niacinamide
- Retinol (Retinyl Palmitate)
- Lipo Hydroxy Acid
- Hyaluronic Acid
Melasyl: A new exclusive multi-patented La Roche Posay ingredient that visibly reduces persistent dark spots with long lasting results that took 18 years of research.
Niacinamide: A form of Vitamin B3, Niacinamide is a water soluble vitamin that is widely used in dermatology and is known for it’s ability to help visibly fade skin discoloration.
La Roche Posay Prebiotic Thermal Water: A soothing water sourced in the town of La Roche Posay in France and a key ingredient in La Roche Posay products.
Mela B3 Micro-Peeling Cleanser

La Roche Posay Mela B3 Micro-Peeling Cleanser has a very light gel-like feel and foams on the skin leaving my skin feeling fresh but not stripped which is familiar to me from using the other La Roche Posay cleansers.
I normally will not spend too much on cleansers unless I’ve tested it myself and feel a difference in my skin texture. And, let me tell you, La Roche Posay cleansers were a top pick out of the many brands I was using while I was a MUA working 12 hour shifts in thick makeup almost daily. So I was quite certain that this one, given that it took 18 years of research on top of my personal experience with their other ranges, I was quite confident about this and if definitely did not disappoint.
Mela B3 Serum

La Roche Posay Mela B3 Serum is the star product of this range given that it is the serum and my first from La Roche Posay. I’m very surprised that for the price range, it’s giving high-end technology and quality! I mean, sometimes you hear brands saying big words and hard to pronounce scientific names to describe their products but when you apply it on your skin, it just looks and feels like a mess. Not for this one though. Minus away all the scientific descriptions, I love the texture of this serum on my skin, not too light that it feels like there’s barely anything and at the same time, it does not feel sticky or oily! I love it so much, I usually drop more than 3 drops all over on my neck and décolletage too!
Mela B3 SPF 30

La Roche Posay Mela B3 SPF 30 got me a little confused initially. Is it a moisturiser or a sunscreen? Why? Because it’s SPF is high for a moisturiser, Broad Spectrum SPF 30! That’s the amount of just some sunscreens alone! On top of that, this moisturiser has La Roche Posay’s trademark ingredient Melasyl and 5% Niacinamide too!
This is great if you tend to get clogged pores from layering too many sunblock and creams but take note that SPF 30 is not enough to protect your skin when you’re outdoors exposed to the sun.
Directions

- Cleanse face with Mela B3 Micro-Peeling Cleanser and rinse off (day and night).
- Apply 1 or 2 pumps of Mela B3 Serum all over face (day and night).
- Apply Mela B3 SPF 30 all over face (day).

Am I enjoying La Roche-Posay Mela B3?

I am so excited to have tried and tested La Roche Posay‘s Mela B3 range and, as I expected, it did not disappoint!
As for the difference in my skin tone, as I still do suffer from adult acne from my condition (endometriosis), the remnants of the acne which comes in the form of dark spots have reduced significantly! I don’t know if it’s because I’m using all 3 products together or it’s because of just the Melasyl but, wow! For a product that I can readily purchase from my local drugstore too! It goes to show that good skin care products do not need to come with a 3-digit price tag. And this is only after a month of use, I wonder what the results will be with long-term consistent use?
It’s no wonder La Roche Posay is the No. 1 Dermatologist Recommended Skincare Brand Worldwide, it has been kind to my skin over the years and I’m thrilled to have the La Roche Posay Mela B3 range with me for the next stage in my life as I’m so close to turning 40 (can you believe it?)! To aging with grace and beauty *cheers.
