The Flower Bomb Dress

Its taking me a while to disassemble this dress. I don’t think a dress has gotten me this much compliments and attention throughout an entire month like this one and I’m still tearing remembering all the kind words.

It all started because I was surprised to learn that I’ve been nominated for the Rising Star Award for Klook’s very first Kreatorverse, and I didn’t have anything to wear. So I scoured through my Pinterest Archive to see if I can come up with something within a month and I remembered a Dolce Gabbana Dress worn by Leonne Honne that I’ve always absolutely loved and got a bit too ambitious. I was so worried I couldn’t finish it in time so, every night, I made sure to stitch at least 3 pieces of these ornamental foliage to a plain white dress and improvised with tassels as I realise the dress may be a bit too short.

It took 2 weeks to complete. I was worried it would either tear as I put it on or fall apart during the event, but God was really on my side that day because it did not tear, and everything stayed intact even till today! I even got nominated as one of the best dressed.

I didn’t win the Rising Star Award or the best dressed but I felt like a champ with the most genuine exchange of words, the hugs and Klook giving me a chance to showcase my talent to 140 Klook Kreators across 300 countries. It wouldn’t have been possible if Klook didn’t shout out this dress prior to Kreatorverse event and created so much buzz and to all of you who nominated and voted for me for the Rising Star Award.

It was not only the highlight of 2024 but a milestone memory.

So before I take it apart, here’s a post to immortalise my very first, hand sewn dress that actually came to fruition. The Flower Bomb Dress inspired me to continue sewing more. If I get invited next year, I’ll have to top this one. I’ve always wanted to do my very own version of Vogue Life in Looks book, I’ll start with this.
