Tucked in between Seah Street, stands the MINT Museum of Toys, the only vintage toy museum in Singapore and the largest in Asia! Definitely not just for children, it’s a curious place to show the iPad generation how we use to play, to reminisce our childhood and invoke nostalgia. In fact, you may be surprise at some of the toys here! It is definitely a gem for vintage enthusiasts and toy collectors alike.

Movie Screening

I started my time at MINT Museum of Toys watching Peter Rabbit the Movie screening at the 4th level of the building. I’m a fan of the Peter Rabbit series but haven’t watched the movie so I took this opportunity and sat through the entire movie. I loved it, I even embarrassingly teared during some scenes but thankfully, I sat at the back corner so no one could see me.
Take note that the MINT Museum of Toys screens different movies every month.

The Collection

The exhibits span over 6 floors and 5 stairwells so take the stairs over the elevator if you can.
Rooftop – The Public Gallery
5th Floor – Outerspace
4th Floor – Characters
3rd Floor – Childhood Favourites
2nd Floor – Collectables
1st Floor – MINT Shop

They were not kidding when they said they had the largest collection of vintage toys. There were so many objects that had me equally in awe and shock too particularly those of the Kennedys’ assassination, war propaganda and Golliwogs. I spotted some board games and toys I use to play as a child and characters I watched on TV and read in storybooks.
As I toured the museum on my own, I got the Augmented Reality Xperience Cards that can be purchased on site. Scan through a pack of 37 AR cards to access toys via 2D and 3D animations while you explore and you can even bring it home or gift it as a souvenir. All you need to do is download the app and you’ll have the information of every toy here. Take a peek of what it’s like on Instagram.
