I have a confession to make. I was never a fan of camping because I’m not good at assembling anything together. I’m also not fond of bugs but I don’t mind staying outdoors as much as I loathe fixing and dismantling things (and bugs). So when I saw that Gopeng Glamping Park was in the itinerary, I knew that this was going to be interesting.
It was my first Glamping experience and I was going to have to put on my big girl pants if I encountered any flying insects. Stay tuned to see how this bug-hating city-dweller fared stayed alone in a tent outdoors.

Upon your arrival at Gopeng Glamping Park, check-in at the reception office where you will be given a pouch that will include the keys to your tent, cards with instructions and rules, a torch light and an emergency tab.
I was a little nervous when I first opened my tent because I didn’t know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprise to be greeted by a nice, bright and inviting room that comes with a night light, comfy beds, towels, mirror, humidifier, fans, cooling air-conditioner and even extended charging ports.

Turns out that I had nothing to worry about because everything was well furnished, very clean and I did not encounter any bugs or pests in the tent, not even mosquitoes! I had a very comfortable sleep, the mattress was so comfortable.
One thing I do have to highlight is that, since it’s a tent, expect to hear noises and chatter from the surrounding area, including other glampers and they can hear you too! Do take note of quiet hours from 11pm to 8am so keep your voices down if you wish to stay up or use the facilities during these times.

There are hammocks, swings, fire pits and sheltered open-spaces to gather and enjoy the outdoors around Gopeng Glamping Park. The Muslim prayer room is also located nearby.

Whitewater Rafting

Duration: 3 – 4.5hours
Distance: 8km
Minimum: 3 pax
Price: RM$150 per pax
I had the opportunity to try Whitewater Rafting with the whole team and it was incredibly fun and memorable! The whole activity from safety brief to rafting, river breaks and the journey to and from altogether takes about 4 hours. We were assigned 3 – 4pax and an instructor per raft and were briefed on how to manoeuvre the raft and what to do in case the boat capsizes.

Our boat capsized once and I thought I lost my rafting shoe in the event and carried on without it until about 10 minutes later, one of the Gopeng Glamping Park rafting crew came and handed me my shoe! I shouldn’t be surprise but I was, I thought I would be rafting the rest of the journey with one bare foot! Kudos to the attentive and very engaging instructors! We also managed to see the Raja Ampat Butterfly while water rafting which I heard can only be found in this area. It was big and so stunning, I forgot I’m terrified of flying insects (that includes butterflies).

All of us enjoyed this experience tremendously and really bonded during this, it was a great choice planning this stay at the start of our trip and it’s definitely an experience I won’t forget.

As the road that leads to Gopeng Glamping Park is narrow and there were a big group of us, we had to switch from our tour bus to a lorry! Along the way, we could see the villages that lined the roads, the kampung lifestyle and the scenic hills. Check out the Behind the Scenes for a glimpse of the lorry ride.
