Shun Feng Crayfish Delight

Calling all seafood lovers – fancy having a delicious bowl of crayfish, lobster, prawns, mackeral, grouper or abalone with XO added to your soup from a hawker stall within $10? Then you’re gonna love Shun Feng Crayfish Delight located right in the heart of the North of Singapore!Shun Feng Crayfish Delight was set up by buddies Willy and Daniel who have known each other since young. Daniel has experience in Food Sciences while Willy holds the secret to the soup base from his father-in-law who is a fisherman trawler chef in Malaysia.

The Shun Feng broth originated from Kuala Selangor in Malaysia where Teo Chew fishermen would brew this broth on board their fishing vessel with local ingredients and condiments to keep them nourished during their time out at sea. Before they set sail for a the unpredictable voyages, they would pray to the deity for smooth seas and good harvest hence the name Shun Feng with the similar hope for a smooth and bountiful journey sharing these amazing broth with friends and family.

We were presented with a good selection of dishes to try – the Crayfish Delight, Lobster Delight, Prawn Delight and Abalone Delight. Other notable dishes are the Red Grouper Fish Head Soup, Red Grouper Delight and Spanish Mackeral Delight.Crayfish Delight $7/$12
I had a full bowl of this and thoroughly enjoyed it! What I really loved was that it was served with the crayfish cut open making it easier to eat; no need to break your teeth trying to eat your seafood. Unlike most of the seafood served here, crayfish takes more effort to attain and prepare but it tasted fresh. It’s also a great option if you don’t want to get your hands dirty trying to break open and peel off shells.
Lobster Delight $10/$18
This has got to be my favourite! The soup had a nice savoury taste which reminded me of salted eggs and the lobster was soft and fresh. It was so good that this is literally the last bowl, it was sold out for the day and it was only 2pm, lol! You can also have it with rice for a good filling and soulful meal.
Prawn Delight $6
Having tried the Crayfish and Lobster Delight, prawns are more readily available but they are really fresh and the meatballs in the soup made it all the more tastier! It goes well with the delicious Crystal HorFun which is a popular choice amongst customers. In fact, Shun Feng Crayfish Delight has proudly sold over 6,000 kilograms of it already for a new stall!
Abalone Slice Delight $7
Another premium ingredient that I didn’t think I would find in a hawker stall! You can even add a shot of XO into your broth for an additional $2! It really added more oomph into the dish and tasted heavenly! It felt like I was having restaurant standard food in a hawker stall!

The queue was long and non-stop for hours – a testament to their dishes and definitely worth the wait. Since it’s quite near to where I live, I’m thinking of coming back for another round of that delicious bowl of Lobster Delight, Crystal HorFun with a touch of XO! Yummy, my mouth is watering just thinking about it! So if you’re ever craving for lobster or abalone, you don’t have to spend a bomb at a 5 Star seafood restaurant, Shun Feng Crayfish Delight is just a stones throw away from Khatib MRT Station with premium taste at wallet friendly prices.
