Have you heard that there is a Princess Cave on Phranang Beach? In fact Phra Nang is literally what it means. How did it get it’s name?
Legend has it that many centuries ago, an Indian Princess drowned in a shipwreck off the coastline and her spirit took refuge in this cave where some say it remains. Another legend says that a sea gypsy was abandoned here by her husband. Betrayed, she became a powerful sorceress and morphed into a potent spirit when she died. There are many versions of this legend but I can’t help but think of mermaids and the secrets the Andaman Sea holds.
