Vintage Find: Dress Clip

Recently, I was out ‘treasure hunting’ for vintage accessories and accessing which ones I was going to add to my growing collection. I spotted this curious piece…

The tiny string of oddly shaped pearls entwined with a gold chain really caught my attention. But what exactly is this? I did a brief search on Google and found out that its a Dress Clip. It was widely used in the 1930s and 40s to clip the back of a dress to show your curves hence the name but it can also be used to clip a cardigan together so that it won’t slip off your shoulder, the edges of your shirt collar or even on bags.

I don’t have any dresses that are too big for me at this point but I have a sweater that could use some clipping.
What do you think?
